What We Believe About Worship
God created us to worship. Without sin in the world, we would exist solely to worship God. God deserves 100% of us...a "living sacrifice, which is our spiritual worship" (Romans 12:1). Yet as sinners, we struggle to give God even a tiny portion of the worship He deserves. It is our desire to go deeper in our worship, to give God more of ourselves, to live worship as a lifestyle, as we truly allow Jesus to be the Lord of our lives.
We are created in the image of God, the Creator of all that exists. And if we are created in God's image, then God has built creativity into us as well. True to the scope of God's limitless imagination, each of us expresses creativity in different ways. Some are creative musically, others artistically, others perhaps mathematically. Some may be good at crafts or with knitting and sewing. Others may be creative thinkers or problem-solvers. God has given each of us the gift of creativity in some way. Some of us have things that we may do well, but do not recognize those things as being 'creative'. Yet God has given all of us 'built in' creativity in some way. Our responsibility and privilege, then, is to use that creativity to glorify God and to express our worship.
Such worship is engaging, exciting, and passionate. It is worship that not only glorifies God, but blesses and uplifts us as well, as the Holy Spirit moves in our midst in response to our worship. We feel that God is calling for our worship to be defined by three "action" concepts:
1. Authentic - God desires our worship to be real...an expression of our gratitude and praise to Him...not just 'going through the motions'.
2. Uplifting - worship should be uplifting and passionate, something that strikes at the very core of who we are, created for the very purpose of worshiping our Creator.
3.Creative - as God has given each of us creative gifts and talents, a part of our responsibility as faithful Christians and stewards of God's kingdom is to use that creativity as an expression of worship.
By our worship, we glorify God and reflect the coming of God's kingdom here on earth, and we experience the Spirit of God in ways that are super-natural...beyond human comprehension. Worship is one of the only things in life that cannot be corrupted by our fallen world. When we come into the presence of God with worship and praise on our hearts, we communion with Him in the most pure way possible. Our goal is that our lives, our community of faith, and our gatherings together be powerful and meaningful as we pursue authentic, uplifting, and creative worship of God Almighty.
